What is the structure of the tournament?
Angel of the Marina Ryder Cup Tournament is structured as a 27 hole tournament separated into 3 rounds with a different form of play for each 9 holes. See below for the structure of each round.
Holes 1 - 9, Front Nine: Best Shot
Each player will tee off. From there, the team will select the best drive, playing the best shot until the ball is holed. Putt everything out!
Holes 10 - 18, Back Nine: Better Ball
Each player plays his own ball until the ball is holed. The team will record the best score between the two balls played. Putt everything out! We will have a skins game in this 9-hole format for all players so make sure to mark your individual scores during this nine.
Holes 19 - 27, Replay Front Nine: Alternate Shot*
One player will tee off and the team will alternate shots until the ball is holed. Putt everything out!*Tee Off Rules for Alternate Shot Format: Before the team begins the alternate shot format, they will choose a player to tee off on the odd holes (19, 21, 23, 25, 27) and a player to tee off on the even holes (20, 22, 24, 26). This determines who will tee off on the next hole regardless of who makes the putt on the previous hole. Please play the ball up within a grip length everywhere - competitors may not improve lie from “rough” to “fairway,” including areas around green (cannot improve to fringe from fairway or rough around green).
What is the cost per person, and what does it go towards?
The total cost per player is $150. Each team will be comprised of 2 players, so we are charging $300 per team, which is how you’ll sign up.
The cost of the tournament per person is broken down to include green fee and a contribution, which is then payed to the tournament treasurer for the prize pot, skins game and putting contest! Green fees for the 27 holes of golf goes directly to Pine Hill Golf Club.
100% of any additional donations or sponsorship fees proceeds go directly towards our 2024 non-profit partner.
How does scoring work?
Players are asked to total their scorecard and turn it into the banquet area in the clubhouse when finished. Please write down your score on each hole.
All ties will be broken by a scorecard “card back” starting on hardest handicap hole and continuing back.
